A GOOD 25-BORE FLINTLOCK OTTOMAN BLUNDERBUSS BREAST-PISTOL SIGNED 'BRANDER & POTTS', no visible serial number,
circa 1820 and almost certainly re-utilizing an existing lock, with strongly flaring iron 10 1/4in. barrel, the first half at breech raised and relief carved with stylised trophies of flags and armour together with panels of floral engraving continuing onto the top-tang, flat bevel-edged lockplate engraved with a leaf border and a scene of gamebirds and signed 'BRANDER & POTTS, MINORIES, LONDON' en-suite cock (top-jaw and part of screw absent), rainproof pan with roller frizzen, walnut full-stock with diamond chequered panels at wrist and fore-end, carved short butt featuring inlet floral scrolls, the decoration continuing around the lock and top-tang and along the fore-end to tip, white-metal moulded heel-plate, engraved iron trigger-guard bow and lower tang, 'angel-wing' side-plate with traces of possible koftgari-work (front side-nail absent) and no provision for ramrod
